DHAKA, Bangladesh - Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina called Bangladesh the perfect place in the world for investment on Tuesday, urging more significant foreign and domestic investment for mutual benefit.
"Bangladesh is the most ideal place in the world for investment because we provide the most investment opportunities. So, I hope that foreign investment will come here and that locals will also invest in their own country," she stated.
The prime minister made the remarks while formally launching the Japanese Economic Zone in the Bangladesh Special Economic Zone (BSEZ) at Araihazar in the Narayanganj district on the capital's outskirts.
She virtually attended the event from her official Ganabhaban residence here.
Because of its location, Bangladesh could be a market for billions of people within and around Bangladesh.
She added that different countries worldwide could invest heavily in Bangladesh to benefit from the vast market.
She also stated that her government has prioritized planned industrialization and agriculture by protecting the country's environment and arable lands.
