AUSTIN, Texas: Tesla is recalling 173 Cybertrucks over a wheel-related defect and more than 200,000 additional vehicles because of a software issue that can disable the rearview camera.
The smaller recall affects model year 2024 to 2026 Tesla Cybertruck vehicles equipped with 18-inch steel wheels.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, cracking in the brake rotor could cause the wheel stud to separate from the wheel hub, increasing the risk of a crash and injury.
The agency said rough roads and cornering can place stress on the wheel rotor, causing cracks to form around the stud hole. Continued driving could lead to wheel-stud separation, which may affect the driver's ability to control the vehicle.
Tesla will replace the front and rear brake rotors, wheel hubs, and lug nuts with more durable components at no cost to owners.
The recall number is SB-26-33-003. Owners can contact Tesla customer service at 1-877-798-3752.
In a separate action, Tesla is recalling more than 200,000 Tesla Model Y, Model S, Model X, and Model 3 vehicles.
The company said a software issue can cause the rearview camera image to become unavailable for a short period.
Loss of the rearview camera display may reduce the driver's visibility when reversing and increase the risk of a collision.
Tesla's recall number for that issue is SB-26-00-016.
The company said it is not aware of any accidents, injuries, or deaths related to either defect.
